Jotspeed is operated by Hess Holdings. Using the app or site means you agree to these terms. Last updated 10 September 2026.
The free app
Jotspeed is a journal on your device. Writing, @tags, search, and export are free. You do not need an account.
You are responsible for what you write and for keeping a copy if you need one. Export a TXT file from the menu. Device storage is not a file in iCloud, Google Drive, or Files.
Jotspeed Pro
Pro is encrypted sync across devices you sign in on. It costs $5 per month or $50 per year, billed by Stripe. Subscribe in the app. Cancel anytime in the billing portal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
Exports stay free if Pro lapses. The last encrypted backup stays until you wipe it or we delete the account.
Password
The sign-in password proves it’s you and unlocks the backup. We cannot email a reset that recovers your journal. If you still have a signed-in device, change the password in Settings. If you lose the password and have no signed-in device, entries that exist only in the backup cannot be recovered.
A browser tab and the Home Screen app on the same phone can be separate notebooks. Sign in to Pro on each if you want them to match.
Acceptable use
Don’t break the service, probe other people’s accounts, or use Jotspeed to abuse others. We can close an account that does.
“As is”
The app is provided as is. Journals are important; we still cannot promise uptime, that a particular phone will keep its storage, or that we can restore what only you could decrypt.
Changes
Prices and these terms can change. The current versions live on this site. Continued use after a change is agreement to it.
